Host a Southern Comfort Beer Brunch. This menu has everything you need to give guests a warm welcome.
One of the secrets to hosting a soulful Southern-inspired brunch is an easy-to-make menu of southern favorites, including fried chicken and waffles, collard greens, pimento cheese, and of course, spiked sweet tea. A Southern Comfort Beer Brunch is great for any gathering or occasion, from Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations to bridal showers, graduation parties, and casual weekend get-togethers. The other secret is not to stress over décor. Keep it simple. Be true to you.
Stick To Simple Southern Favorites: The menu should match the theme, but you can still put your spin on it. We beerified some Southern classic favorites to boost the flavor and flair of these simple yet satisfying foods.
A Southern Comfort Beer Brunch is the perfect way to say come on in, kick off your shoes, and stay awhile!
THE MENU
Pimento Beer Cheese
We start with our Pimento Beer Cheese, an updated version of pimento cheese, a Southern staple, and every cheddar cheese lover’s dream appetizer. Adding a flavorful beer and covering it in pecans transforms it into everyone’s new favorite party dip.
Beer-Battered Fried Chicken Tenders and Beer Waffles
Fried chicken and waffles are a sweet and savory soul-food specialty. In this menu, the chicken is beer-battered tenders fried to perfection. They’re equally good served warm or at room temperature, and ideal when you don’t want to fry a whole chicken. The homemade beer waffles are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside! The dish comes together with a generous serving of beer syrup and butter.
Uptown Collards
Collard greens are another classic Southern dish. We’ve kicked the flavor up a notch with our Uptown Collards recipe. It does the vegetable justice without the addition of meat.
Sweet Potato Pound Cake with Beer Caramel Sauce
Don’t Forget Dessert! You don’t have to be Southern to enjoy this gorgeous Sweet Potato Pound Cake. It’s proof you don’t have to wait for fall to eat sweet potatoes. We enjoy them all year round, especially when they’re whipped into a dessert that’s drizzled with beer caramel glaze.
THE DRINKS
Serve A Special Cocktail: it’s just not a Southern brunch without sweet tea! Try our Sweet Tea Shandy for a delicious and refreshing cocktail.
Suggested Beer Pairings: We made the cocktail with a DIPA (double IPA). This menu pairs exceedingly well with an amber ale, IPA, DIPA/Imperial IPA, pilsner, Vienna lager, or pale ale. Serving any two to three of these beer styles will work just fine.
THE SETTING
Create An Inviting Ambiance: We’ve set the scene with a tablescape that’s perfect for (a real or virtual) brunch. Our vintage enamel top table meets contemporary dishes for a personal, one-of-a-kind feel that provides an air of Southern sophistication with a welcoming mix of old and new.
THE FAVOR
Say Thanks For Coming With An Edible Gift: We just love to present our guests with a little edible takeaway gift as a thank you for spending time with us, don’t you? Beer syrup is the perfect sweet surprise. Just double the recipe and fill a few mini bottles to give to guests as they leave. It will be the perfect reminder of how much fun they had at your brunch.
